Customs data showed that in the first quarter of 2011, the total import and export of mechanical and electrical products in China amounted to 404 billion 950 million US dollars, up 23.9% from the same period, which was 5.6 percentage points lower than the increase in total commodity trade.
According to the analysis of the import and export Comprehensive Department of the Chinese Mechatronics chamber of Commerce, the export growth rate of mechanical and electrical products has been lower than all commodity growth since October 2010. The export growth of 25.9% in March 2011 was lower than the growth of all commodities (35.8%), while the import growth rate in March was 21.6%, which has been below the overall growth rate for fifth months since November 2010.
The data also showed that the proportion of the import and export of mechanical and electrical products in the first quarter fell to 50.6%, 3 percentage points lower than that in 2010, and 2.3 percentage points lower than that of the same period in 2010.
