According to customs data, in the first quarter of 2011, China's total import and export of mechanical and electrical products reached 404.95 billion US dollars, up 23.9% year on year, 5.6 percentage points lower than the growth rate of total commodity trade.

According to the analysis of the Import and Export General Department of the China Chamber of Commerce for Mechanical and Electrical Products, the export growth rate of mechanical and electrical products has been lower than that of all commodities since October 2010, and the export growth rate of 25.9% in March 2011 is lower than that of all commodities (35.8%); The import growth rate in March was 21.6%, which has been lower than the overall growth rate for the fifth consecutive month since November 2010.

The data also showed that the import and export volume of mechanical and electrical products accounted for 50.6% of the total merchandise trade in the first quarter, 3 percentage points lower than that of the whole year of 2010, and 2.3 percentage points lower than that of the same period of 2010.
